ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks (5-2-1) defeated the Brock women's hockey (0-4-2) team 2-1 Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
After a scoreless first period the Badgers would bulge the twine first 5:57 into the second period when
Christina Ieradi scored her third goal of the season. Â Minutes later Brock starting goaltender
Stephanie Loukes was forced to leave the game with a lower-body strain. Â Loukes was perfect on nine UOIT shots, and was replaced by Emily Kelly.
The Ridgebacks would tie things at the 13:09 mark of the middle stanza when Kassidy Nauboris beat Kelly as the two teams would head to the third period tied 1-1.
UOIT would then take the lead for good on a Zoe Battie deflected point shot 8:46 into the final frame.
Kelly made 19 saves on the night, while Tori Campbell turned aside 17 Badger shots.
Brock finished the night 0-for-3 on the powerplay. The Ridgebacks were 0-for-4.
The Badgers now welcome the Queen's Gaels Sunday afternoon at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. Â Game time is 2:15 pm. Â
