Box Score OTTAWA - The Brock University men's basketball team (0-2 OUA) fell to the No. 2 ranked Ottawa GeeGees (2-0 OUA) by the score of 103-68 Saturday night at Montpetit Hall.
The high scoring GeeGees offense opened the game on a 12-0 run in the first three minutes, and never looked back, sailing to their second straight 100+ point conference victory to open the OUA regular season.
Ottawa had five players in double digits, led by Johnny Berhanemeskel who finished with a game-high 28 points going 11-for-14 from the field. Matt Nelson and Matt Plunkett added 14 points each, going a combined 12-for-16 from the floor. Caleb Agada and Vikas Gill rounded out the GeeGees leaders adding 13 and 12 points respectively in the victory.
Brock had two players in double figures led by
Zachary Angelini who recorded 21 points and nine rebounds.
Johneil Simpson added 20 points and seven boards, while
Ryan Flanagan and
Kevin Wilson chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.
The Badgers shot 36.0% (27-for-75) from the field and struggled from beyond the arc with a season low 14.3% (2-for-14). They also were 12-for-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line. Ottawa shot 55.4% (41-for-74) from the field, 37.9% (11-for-29) from long range and 58.8% (10-for-17) from the chariy stripe.
The Badgers next action is Friday, November 14th at 8pm when they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at the Bob Davis Gymnasium in their OUA homeopener.
