ST. CATHARINES, Ont - The Brock University women's volleyball team (4-3 OUA) picked up their fourth conference victory of the 2014-2015 season with a 3-0 win (25-16, 25-22, 25-12) over the Western Mustangs (3-4 OUA) Sunday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Both sides came out strong in the first set trading points early on in the frame. Brock would eventually take the first set 25-16, and wouldnt look back, on route to the 3-0 sweep over the Mustangs.
Brock's offence was led by
Renee Helmer who recorded 10 kills and eight digs.
Nicole Arthurs chipped in with five kills, while Torri Carroll (4 kills, 3 digs) and
Katie Murray (1 kill, 4 aces, 5 digs) added their respective tally's to Brock's totals. Setter
Lauren Stirling collected 18 assists and libero
Karlinna O'Leary added 13 digs on defense.Â
Kelsey Veltman led all Mustang hitters with six kills, while Courtney Sestric added 11 digs to Western's defensive effort.Â
The Badgers attack collected 25 kills and 13 errors on 62 total attempts, finishing with a .194 hitting percentage. Western hit just .000 collecting 19 kills and 19 errors on 73 total offensive attempts.Â
Brock returns to action on Friday, November 14th at 7pm as they head to Guelph to take on the Gryphons.
