Box Score WATERLOO, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team (14-10-3 OUA West) clinched a berth into the OUA playoffs as they defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks by the score of 5-1 Thursday night on the road.

Brock opened the scoring 4:46 into the opening period as senior Matt Abercrombie (Sarnia, Ont.) and rookie Sammy Banga (Windsor, Ont) setup senior C.J. Dickson (Thorold, Ont.) for the power play marker.

Senior Thomas Stajan (Mississauga, Ont.) gave the Badgers a 2-0 lead at 7:34 with sophomore Johnson Andrews (NOTL, Ont.) and freshman Thomas Welsh (Hamilton, Ont.) adding the assists. Just 16 seconds later, Stajan and junior Dylan MacEachern (Mississauga, Ont.) would find Andrews who buried it past Laurier starter Viny Merante for the 3-0 lead.

Midway through the second period, rookie Jeff MacPherson (Bradford, Ont.) would put the Badgers up 4-0 with sophomore Andrew Radjenovic (Hamilton, Ont.) and Dickson collecting the assists.

With less than five minutes left in regulation, Laurier's Greg Lamoureux would spoil Brock rookie goaltender Real Cormier's (Trenton, Ont.) shutout as he recorded his sixth goal of the season making it 4-1.

The Badgers would close out the scoring with just over a minute remaining as Banga and junior Daniel Tanel (Brampton, Ont.) setup Abercrombie for his team leading 17th goal of the campaign.

In goal, Cormier registered 21 saves for his fourth vivctory in five starts. Merante finished with 20 saves in the loss.

Brock closes out the OUA regular season on the road Saturday when they take on the first place Western Mustangs. The first round of OUA playoffs will begin next week.
