Box Score TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team (14-10-4 OUA West, 0-1 playoffs) dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime to the Ryerson Rams in Game One of the Best-of-3 OUA West playoff series Thursday night at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Ryerson led 1-0 after one period on a goal from OUA regular season scoring leader Jamie Wise. 

The Rams took a 2-0 lead 1:12 into the second period as Brian Birkhoff and Domenic Alberga setup Michael Fine for his first goal of the playoffs.

Less than a minute later, senior Matt Abercrombie (Sarnia, Ont.) would put the Badgers on the board beating Ryerson starter Troy Passingham making it 2-1. Kevin Chrismas (Hamilton, Ont.) and Mike McGurk (Hamilton, Ont.) added the assists.

At the midway mark of the second period, the Rams would regain the two-goal lead as Wise and Peter Hermenegildo setup Alberga for the power play marker.

Brock's Jordan Gignac (Hamilton, Ont.) would cut the Rams lead to one with 4:07 remaining in the second period adding his first goal of the postseason. Johnson Andrews (NOTL, Ont.) and Dylan MacEachern (Mississauga, Ont.) were credited with the assists.

With 6:25 remaining in regulation, the Badgers would tie the game 3-3, as Andrew Radenovic (Hamilton, Ont.) and Thomas Stajan (Mississauga, Ont.) found Gignac for his second goal of the night sending it to overtime.

In the first overtime, Alberga would register his second goal of the contest beating Brock starter Real Cormier (Trenton, Ont.) with just five seconds remaining on the clock for the game winner.

Cormier registered 42 saves in his first career playoff game while Passingham collected 43 saves in the victory.

The Badgers return to action Friday night at 7:15pm when they host the Ryerson Rams in Game Two at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 seniors and students. Brock University students get in free with their Brock ID card.
