Brock men's basketball fall to No. 5 ranked Marauders 106-61

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (2-17 OUA West) dropped a 106-61 decision to the No. 5 ranked McMaster Marauders (16-3 OUA West) Thursday night at the Burridge Gymnasium.

Brock led 14-11 midway through the first quarter, before the Marauders offense went on a 14-2 run leading 25-16 after one quarter. In the second quarter, McMaster put together a 16-4 run leading 41-20 with just under five minutes left in the half.

In the third quarter, the Marauders more than doubled up the Badgers outscoring them 31-14 to take a commanding 79-41 after 30 minutes. They would going to roll in the fourth adding 27 more points on route to the 45-point victory.

Brock had three players in double figures led by freshman Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, Ont.) who recorded 20 points and seven rebounds. Senior Tshing Kasamba (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 17 points and six boards while sophomore Brandon John (Toronto, Ont.) added 11 points in the loss.

McMaster was led by Taylor Black who finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. Trevon McNeil registered 18 points including four treys while Joe Rocca added 17 points. Rounding out the Marauders leaders were Rohan Boney and Aaron Redpath who chipped in with 11 points each.

For the game Brock shot 30.6% (19-for-62) from the field and struggled from beyond the arc going just 3-for-16 (18.8%). The Badgers were also 20-for-26 (76.9%) from the charity stripe. McMaster finished the contest shooting 50.6% (39-for-77) from the floor, including 32.3% (10-for-31) from downtown. They were also 78.3% (18-for-23) from the free throw line.

The Badgers return to action Saturday at 3pm when they play host to the Guelph Gryphons at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
