NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-6 OUA) defeated the Nipissing Lakers (0-8 OUA) by the score of 76-55 on the road Friday night.
Brock jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and led 22-15 after one quarter. The two teams played and even second quarter, with the Badgers leading 36-29 at the half.
In the third quarter, Brock opened with a 15-4 run, to take a commanding 51-33 lead with 3:35 remaining, on route to their fourth victory of the OUA regular season.
The Badgers had three players in double figures led by sophomore
Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, Ont.) who registered 13 points and seven rebounds. Rookie
Matthew Hall (Penetanguishene, Ont.)Â and senior
Zachary Angelini (Hamilton, Ont.) contributed with 11 and 10 points respectively. Senior
Matt Marshall (Burlington, Ont.) and freshman
Johneil Simpson (Toronto, Ont.) both added eight points each to round out the leaders.
Leading all scorers was Nipissing's Marcos Clennon who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Brock shot 49.2% (30-for-61) from the field, 41.7% (5-for-12) from beyond the arc and 64.7% (11-for-17) from the free throw line. Nipissing was just 18-for-55 (32.7%) from the floor, 5-for-18 (27.8%) from three-point range and 14-for-21 (66.7%) from the charity stripe.Â
The Badgers are on the road again Saturday night when they take on the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury.
