SUDBURY, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-7 OUA) dropped an 89-81 decision to the Laurentian Voyageurs Saturday night at the Ben Avery Gymnasium.
The Badgers had three players in double figures led by sophomore
Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, Ont.) who led all players with a game-high 30 points and 14 rebounds for the double-double. He also collected five assists and four steals. Sophomore
Nolan Mackenzie (Oakville, Ont.) contributed with a career-high 20 points and five assists while rookie
Johneil Simpson (Toronto, Ont.) added 12 points in the loss.Â
Laurentian was led by Sam Hirst who registered 27 points and four rebounds. Also in double digits for the Voyageurs were Tychon Carter-Newman (24 points, 7 rebounds), David Aromolaran (11 points, 6 assists) and Ryan Bennett (11 points, 8 assists).
For the game, the Badgers shot 41.3% (31-for-75) from the field, 25.0% (5-for-20) from beyond the arc and 70.0% (14-for-20) at the free throw line. The Voyageurs went 31-for-60 (51.7%) from the floor, 4-for-12 (33.3%) from three-point range and 23-for-29 (79.3%) from the charity stripe.Â
Brock now returns home for six of their next seven games, beginning January 24th when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at the Bob Davis Gymnasium for the Jason Pearson Memorial Game. Tip-off is scheduled for 3pm.
