TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock Badgers men's hockey team (8-8-1 OUA) opened 2015 with a 4-0 loss to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (7-8-1 OUA) Sunday afternoon at Varsity Arena.
Toronto opened a 2-0 first period lead, scored once in the second, and once in the third.
Christian Finch, Russel Turner, Michael Markovic and Jeff Brown bulged the twine for the Varsity Blues, who outshot Brock 34-27 overall.
"We struggled to get our consistency in our game today," said Badgers head coach
Murray Nystrom. Â "We are at our best when dictating the pace of the play. Â To Toronto's credit they kept us from doing that."
Brock was 0-for-2 on the powerplay. Â Toronto was 2-for-2.
Michael Nishi picked up the shutout for the Varsity Blues, while
Clint Windsor suffered the loss for the Badgers.
Brock next returns to action at home this Friday night. Â The University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks are in town for a 7:15 puckdrop at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.Â
