ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's basketball team defeated the Queen's Gaels by the score of 68-56 Thursday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers trailed 17-7 in the opening six minutes and 19-11 after one quarter.
In the second quarter, the Badgers put together a 14-8 run over a seven minute span and trailed by just two points at the half 33-31.
Queen's led 37-35 with 6:34 remaining in the third quarter, before Brock answered with a 16-2 run to take a 51-39 lead with just over two minutes left in the quarter.

Brock extended their lead to 15 points on route to their fifth non-conference victory.Brock
had a balanced offense with four starters in double digits. Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, Ont.) contributed with 12 points and Jenalyn Yumol (London, Ont.) added 11 points and four assists. Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, Ont.) (10 points, 8 rebounds) and Kayla Santilli (Brantford, Ont.) (10 points) both chipped in with 10 points each while Kate Harpur (Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) pulled down a game-high 12 boards.For the game, Brock shot 39.7% (25-for-63) from the field, 23.1% (3-for-13) and 78.9% (15-for-19) from the free throw line. Queen's went 24-for-68 (35.3%) from the floor, 3-for-22 (13.6%) from beyond the arc and 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the charity stripe.Â
