Box Score 2 The Brock University women's volleyball team went 0-2 to open the 2015-16 OUA regular season. The Badgers dropped 3-0 decisions to both the Ryerson Rams (25-13, 25-17, 25-17), and the Windsor Lancers (25-15,25-18, 25-15).
Against Ryerson,
Maddie Brown (Scarborough, Ont.) led the Badgers offense adding seven kills.
Kelsi Boroevich (Burnaby, BC) and
Abby Jenkins (Cambridge, Ont.) chipped in with four kills each in the loss.
Leading the Ryerson attack was Emily Nicholishen and Veronica Livingston who both contributed with 11 kills each.
For the match, Brock had a .040 hitting percentage adding 23 kills with 20 errors on just 75 attempts. The Rams hit .316 as a team, registering 38 kills with 13 errors on 79 attempts.
In the Badgers loss to Windsor,
Laura Condotta (Etobicoke, Ont.) collected nine kills and nine digs to lead the way. Libero
Karlinna O'Leary (Whitby, Ont.) added 14 digs.
Shannon Dean led the Lancers with nine kills and seven aces, while Emily McCloskey and Jade Ziebarth both chipped in with six kills each. Former Badger setter and 2014-15 OUA first team all-star Lauren Stirling finished with 25 assists and 12 digs for the double-double in her Lancers debut.Brock hit just .011 for the game adding 21 kills with 20 errors on 87 attempts. The Lancers had a .202 hitting percentage for the match, adding 32 kills with 14 errors on 89 attempts.
The Badgers will look to get in the win column next weekend when they host the McMaster Marauders (Oct 31st) and Waterloo Warriors (Nov. 1) at the Bob Davis Gymnasium. Both matches are scheduled for 2pm.
