St Catharines, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team extended their win streak to three games as they defeated the University of Toronto Varsity Blues by the score of 4-1 Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
The Badgers open the scoring with 2:24 remaining in the first period as
Sammy Banga (Windsor, Ont.) and
Chris Maniccia (St. Catharines, Ont.) setup
Skylar Pacheco (Kitimat, BC) for his third goal of the season.
Midway through the second period, the Badgers took a 2-0 lead with the man-advantage as Banga and
Jake Cardwell (Niagara Falls, Ont.) set up
Mitch Nardi (Hamilton, Ont.) for his fourth goal of the campaign. Just four minutes, later the Brock power play went to work again as Pacheco found Cardwell who buried a shot over the shoulder of Toronto starter Michael Nishi.
Toronto would get on the scoreboard late in the second period as Patrick Marsh registered his fourth goal of the season.
Brock closed out the scoring seven minutes into the third, as
Josh Timpano (Orillia, Ont.) beat Nishi for his third goal of the year.
Jeff Corbett (Uxbridge, Ont.) and
Adam Lloyd (Orleans, Ont.) added the assists.
In goal, Brock starter
Clint Windsor (Hamilton, Ont.) turned aside 23 of 24 shots he faced for the victory.Nishi collected 31 saves in the loss.
The Badgers were 3-for-6 with the man advantage. The Varsity Blues went 0-for-1.
