St Catharines, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team (3-3-2 OUA) had their three-game win streak come to an end, as they dropped a 5-4 decision in overtime to the Ryerson Rams Saturday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
After a scoreless first period, Ryerson's Michael Fine gave the Rams a 1-0 lead 5:37 into the second.
The Badgers offense would answer with four straight goals in the second to take a 4-1 lead. Scoring for Brock were
Ryan Purvis (Orillia, Ont.) ,
Chris Maniccia (St Catharines, Ont.),
Josh Timpano (Orillia, Ont.) and
Adam Lloyd (Orleans, Ont.).
The Rams would battle back with three of their own in the third. Ryerson's Jason Kelly scored back-to-back goals at 4:44 and 10:51, cutting the Badgers lead to one 4-3. Fine would add his second goal of the contest at 11:36 of the third, tying the game 4-4.
In overtime, Joel Wigle scored the game winner 2:48 in, to give the Rams the come from behind road victory.
In goal, Brock starter
Clint Windsor (Hamilton, Ont.) recorded 45 saves in the loss, while Ryerson's Taylor Dupuis added 28 saves in the victory.
The Badgers return to action next weekend when they take on the Carleton Ravens (Nov.6) and RMC Paladins (Nov. 7) on the road.
