KINGSTON, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (0-1 OUA) opened their 2015-16 OUA regular season with a 2-0 loss against the Queen's Gaels Friday night on the road.
The Badgers played Queen's tough for 58 plus minutes as both starting goaltender in Brock's
Stephanie Loukes (Oakville, Ont.) and Queen's Caitlyn Lahonen were solid between the pipes.
Queen's broke the 0-0 tie with just 1:14 left in regulation as Addi Halladay setup Nadia Larocca for her first goal of the season. Nadia Larocca scored her second of the game adding the late empty net goal with seconds left to play.
Louck's recorded 20 saves on 21 shots in the loss while Lahonen collected 21 saves for the shutout victory.
The Badgers next action is Saturday, October 10th at 7:30pm when they take on the UOIT Ridgebacks in Oshawa. Brock then returns home for three straight versus the Nipissing Lakers (Oct. 17 - 2:15pm), Laurentian Voyageurs (Oct. 18 - 2:15pm) and Laurier Golden Hawks (Oct. 24 - 7:15pm).
