ST. CATHARINES, ON -The No.7 ranked Brock University women's basketball team defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves by the score of 72-50 Saturday night at the Meridian Centre.
Early in the second quarter, the Badgers held a 14-13 lead, before going on an 18-4 run to take a 32-17 lead with just over two minutes left in the half. Brock extended their lead to as many as 28 points in the second half, on route to their fifth OUA conference victory.
The Badgers had four players reach double figures led by
Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, ON) who added 16 points and eight rebounds. Kate Harper (Niagara on the Lake, ON) and
Kayla Santilli (Brantford, ON) chipped in with 12 points each while
Aryn Finley (Dresden, ON) added 11 points, including a career best three three-pointers.
Jenylyn Yumol (London, ON) added a season high nine assists to move her into first all time in school history surpassing Nickie Thompson.
Brock shot 46.6% (27-for-58) from the field, 31.8% (7-for-22) from beyond the arc and 57.9% (11-for-19) from the charity stripe.The Thunderwolves were held to just 25.7% from the field going 18-for-70. They were also 5-for-25 (20.0%) from long range and 9-for-12 (75.0%) from the free throw line .
