Box Score Sault Ste Marie, Ont. - The No. 6 ranked Brock University women's basketball team (1-1 OUA) defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds by the score of 75-45 Friday night on the road.

The Badgers led 25-9 after 10 minutes and held a 40-17 lead at the half, on route to their first regular season victory.

Leading the Badgers offense was Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, Ont.) who finished with 19 points including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Jenalyn Yumol (London, Ont.) finished with the double double adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. Rounding out the Badgers leaders were Kate Harpur (Niagara on the Lake, Ont.)(9 points, 6 rebounds) Chrissy Sirignano (St Catharines, Ont.) (9 points, 5 rebounds) and Bailie Campbell (Halifax NS) (9 points, 3 steals).

Algoma was led by Sidne Resch who added 13 points and six rebounds. Also in double digits was Laura Meadows who finished with 11 points.

For the game, the Badgers shot 31.3% (26-for-83) from the field, 25.8% (8-for-31) from beyond the arc and 52.5% (15-for-24) from the free throw line. Algoma went 16-for-58 (27.6%) from the floor, 6-for-21 (28.6%) from three-point range and 7-for-10 (70.0%) from the charity stripe.

The Badgers return to action the weekend of November 20-21 as they take on the York Lions and Queen's Gaels on the road. Tickets for the Home Opener Weekend vs Lakehead go on sale Thursday, November 12th at 10am..
