TORONTO - In the opening round of the 2015 OUA women's basketball playoffs, the Brock Badgers dropped a 77-61 decision to the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Toronto led by two after one quarter 19-17, before putting together a 13-3 run to open the second quarter, taking a 47-32 lead at the half.
The Badgers played Toronto even in the second half, but it was 24 Brock turnovers which led to 31 of the Varsity Blues 77 points, on route to the postseason home victory. Â
Brock had four starters in double figures led by
Kayla Santilli who registered the double-double adding 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Melissa Tatti and
Dayna Howlett both chipped in with 11 points each, including a combined six three-pointers.Â
Kira Cornelissen contributed with 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
Toronto's Jill Stratton led all scorers with a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds for the double-double. L. Bailey and A. Garner chipped in with 15 and 13 points respcrively in the win.Â
The Badgers shot just 29.7% (19-for-64) from the field, 30.0% (9-for-30) from beyond the arc and 82.4% (14-for-17) from the charity stripe.  The Varsity Blues went 33-for-89 (37.1%) from the floor, 7-for-23 (30.4%) from long range and just 4-for-7 (57.1%) from the free throw line.
