Box Score ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's basketball team (6-4 OUA Central) dropped a 66-62 decision to the Western Muatangs (7-3 OUA West) Wednesday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

After a total of four combined field goals in the opening quarter, Brock held a one-point lead at the half 31-30. 

In the final quarter, Brock led 61-56 with just under two minutes left in regulation. Western would close out the game with a 10-1 run, on route to their seventh conference victory.

Chrissy Sirignano (St. Catharines, ON) led the Badgers in scoring registering 15 points. Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, ON) contributed with 12 points and eight rebounds while Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, ON) chipped in with 10 points. Kate Harpur (NOTL, ON) added 11 boards and six points in the loss. 

Western's Mackenzie Puklicz led all scorers finishing with 18 points. Caroline Wolynski registered 17 points while Victoria Heine added 14 points and eight rebounds. Maddy Horst collected eight points, five assists and six rebounds while Julia Curran led all players with 13 rebounds.

The Badgers continued to struggle from the field shooting just 27.9% (19-for-68) and 23.5% (4-for-17) from beyond the arc. The lone highlight was that Brock was almost perfect from the charity stripe going 20-for-21 (95.2%). The Mustangs shot 41.4% (24-for-58) from the field, 35.3% (6-for-17) from long range and 92.3% (12-for-13) from the free throw line.

The Badgers will regroup as they take on divisional rival Guelph Gryphons January 27th 6pm at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
