ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's volleyball team (1-12 OUA) fell in three sets (24-26, 19-25, 21-25) to the Windsor Lancers Saturday afternoon in front of 350 in attendance at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
"The girls really came to compete today," said Brock women's volleyball head coach Dale Melnick. "We played a strong match in front of a great home crowd but we made to many easy mistakes. We are a very young team and just have to learn how to win now. The future is bright."
Leading the Badgers offense was
Laura Condotta (Etobicoke, ON) who recorded 10 kills and five digs.
Abby Jenkins (Cambridge, ON) contributed with eight kills while
Maddie Brown (Scarborough, ON) added seven kills. Libero
Karlinna O'Leary (Whitby, ON) registered a team high 19 digs while international newcomer
Hannah Davenhill (New Zealand, ON) added 22 assists and 12 digs for her first career double-double.
Windsor was led by Shannon Dean who collected 10 kills and four digs. Former Badger
Lauren Stirling was held to 23 assists and four digs.
For the match, Brock hit just 14.5% adding 36 kills and 19 errors on 117 attempts. The Lancers had a 12.4% hitting percentage adding 26 kills and 13 errors on 105 total attempts.
