ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's basketball team defeated the Guelph Gryphons by the score of 59-53 Wednesday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Brock trailed 10-6 after the opening 10 minutes and were down by one at the half 25-24.
Early in the fourth quarter, the Badgers led 42-40, before putting together an 11-1 run leading 53-41 with four minutes left in regulation. The Gryphons would cut the lead to five, 55-50, after a 10-3 run. Brock knocked down 4-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to secure the victory.

Kayla Santilli (Brantford, ON) who recorded 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Jenalyn Yumol (London, ON) contributed with 14 points and six assists whileÂ
Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, ON). Rookie
Chrissy Sirignano (St. Catharines, ON) added eight points off the bench.
Guelph's Kate MacTavish led all players with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the double double. Barbara Inrig-Pieterse chipped in with 11 points in the loss.
For the game, Brock shot 44.2% (23-for-52) from the field, just 15.4% (2-for-13) from beyond the arc and 50.0% (11-for-22) from the charity stripe. Guelph was 18-for-62 (29.0%) from the field, 4-for-19 (21.1%) from three-point land and 13-for-23 (56.5%) from the free throw line. Guelph outrebounded the Badgers 45-37.
The Badgers return to action February 3rd at 6pm when they take on the Ryerson Rams on the road.
