ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's hockey team dropped a 7-4 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
Brock held a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes, and let it slip away in the third period, as Laurier answered six times, including two empty netters, to clinch a playoff berth. Brock remains four points back of Toronto, with three games remaining, for the final playoff spot in the OUA West.
Leading the Badgers was
Mitch Nardi (Hamilton, ON) who recorded his 10th and 11th goals of the season. Adding singles were
Brody Silk (Iroquois Falls, ON) and
Tyson Dallman (Prince Albert, Sask).
Christian Mroczkowski led the Laurier offense with three goals and one assist for a four-point night. Matt Dupont (1G, 2A) and Ryan Lopes (3A) both contributed with three points each. Adding single goals were Luke Hietkamp, Greg Cerilli and Derek Schoenmakers.
In goal, Laurier starter Colin Furlong registered 37 saves for the victory. Brock's
Clint Windsor (Hamilton, ON) collected 25 saves in the loss.
The Badgers return to action on Friday, February 5th when they host the Windsors Lancers 7:15pm at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
