LONDON, ON - The Brock University men's hockey team (6-8-4 OUA) defeated the Western Mustangs by the score of 3-2 Friday night at Thompson Arena.
The Badgers opened the scoring 7:14 into the first period as
Ryan Purvis (Orillia, ON) setup rookie defenseman
Jeff Corbett (Uxbridge,ON) for his first regular season goal as a Badger. Five minutes later, Brock took a 2-0 lead as
Brody Silk (Iroquios Falls, ON) found Purvis who buried home his third goal of the campaign.
Just under four minutes into the second period, the Mustangs cut the lead to one, as Cody Brown beat Brock starter
Clint Windsor (Hamilton, ON) with Spenser Cobbold and Jed Rusk adding the assists.
Just under a minute later, the Badgers regained the two-goal lead as Purvis buried a shot past Mustangs starter Peter Delmas. Purvis finished the night with his first three-point performance as a Badger, adding two goals and one helper.
Western cut the lead to 3-2 with eight minutes left in the second period as Dylan Corson setup Trevor Warnaar for his fifth goal of the season.
In the third, the host Mustangs peppered Windsor with 17 shots, but it was the second year starter standing tall finishing the night with a 40-save performance. Western's Delmas collected 34 saves in the loss.
The Badgers return to action Satuday night as they take on the Windsor Lancers on the road.
