ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's hockey team extended their OUA win streak to three as they defeated the Guelph Gryphons by the score of 3-2 Saturday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
The Gyphons got on the board first at the 8:42 mark of the opening period as Tryg Strand and Scott Simmonds setup Marc Stevens for his third goal of the season.
Just 19 seconds later, Brock's
Ryan Purvis (Orillia, ON) would even the game 1-1 with
Jesse Blais (Stittsville, ON) and
Josh Timpano (Orillia, ON) adding the assists.
In the final minute of the first period, Timpano would beat Guelph starting goaltender Scott Stajcer with a shorthanded marker to give Brock a 2-1 lead.
Three minutes into the second period, Brock would go up by the score of 3-1 on a powerplay goal from
Chris Maniccia (St. Catharines, ON).
Skylar Pacheco (Kitimat, BC) and
Sammy Banga (Windsor, ON) collected the helpers.
Guelph would cut the lead to one two minutes into the final period as Strand added his first goal of the campaign.
In goal, Brock starter
Clint Windsor (Hamilton, ON) stood tall as he recorded a career-high 49 saves for the victory. Stajcer collected 28 saves in the loss.
