PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Brock University men's volleyball team opened the 2016-17 OUA regular season with a 3-1 victory over the Trent Excalibur Friday night on the road (23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21).
The Badgers were making their return to OUA volleyball for the first time in over 15 seasons.
Matthew Ragogna (Tottenham, ON) led the Badgers offense registering 14 kills, five digs and three blocks.Â
John Elgersma contributed with eight kills, six aces and five block assists.Â
Timmy Spisar (Brampton, ON) and
Matt Hall (Penetanguishene, ON) chipped in with seven and six kills respectively.
Rookie setterÂ
Marcelo Correa (Indaiatuba, Brazil) finished with 33 assists and eight digs in the victory.
Trent was led by Jacob Bothen who recorded 11 kills, five digs and two aces.
For the game, Brock collected 40 kills with 22 errors on 82 attempts for a .220 hitting percentage. The Excalibur had a .133 hitting efficiency adding 34 kills and 21 errors on 98 total attempts.
