OTTAWA - The Brock University men's hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision in double overtime to the Ottawa GeeGees in the nation's capital Friday night. With the loss Brock falls to 7-4-1 and sit just two points ahead of Lakehead, Laurier and Windsor for third place in the OUA West Division.
Ottawa opened the scoring two minutes into the first period as Marc Beckstead beat Brock rookie starter
Adam Beukeboom (Sundre, AB) for his third goal of the season.
With seven minutes left in the first, Brock's
Sammy Banga (Windsor, ON) added his seventh goal of the campaign to even the game 1-1. Brody Silk (Iroquois Falls, ON) and
Dexter Weber (New Dundee, ON) collected the assists.
The Badgers took a 2-1 lead 3:27 into the second period as
Mitch Nardi (Hamilton, ON) and
Patrick Volpe (Burlington, ON) setup
Adam Lloyd (Oreleans, ON) for his team leading eighth goal of the campaign.Â

The GeeGes would answer with two more before the end of the second period, with goals from Mathieu Newcomb and Connor Sills to lead 3-2 after 4- minutes.
Three minutes into the third period, Brock tied the game 3-3 as Volpe found
Skylar Pacheco (Kitimat, BC) who buried a shot past Ottawa starter Graham Hunt.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Ottawa's Kevin Domingue would score the game winner with 21 seconds remaining in the second OT.
Beukeboom registered 45 saves in the loss while Graham collected 35 for the victory.
The Badgers return to action Saturday as they take on the McGill Redmen on the road.
