Box Score ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's volleyball team rallied from two sets down to defeat the Lakehead Thunderwolves by the score of 3-2 Friday night in front of a capacity crowd at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Lakehead took control of the match with two early set wins, beating Brock 25-20 in set one and 25-17 in set two.

Brock, only one set loss away from defeat, was not ready to go down without a fight.

Set three started with Brock in control early taking the first five of six points. The rest of the match was a back and forth affair with both teams taking turns scoring points. Some great digs by rookie Julia Balatbat and nice kills by Tori Carroll led to Brock taking set three 25-20.

Set four saw some more dominance from the Badgers, causing Lakehead to get frustrated and give up some costly errors. Maddie Brown led the way with some earthshattering kills set up by Hannah Davenhill. Lakehead would have a short rally late, but it was too little too late as Brock took the set 25-20.

This meant Brock had forced a deciding 5th and final set. Lakehead wasn't about to let the match slip away and took an early lead in the set, but the Badgers had one last push in them. They trailed 10-8, after a long hard fought rally, Brock got the serve back, only down by one. They handed to ball over to Alanna Norris, who had been nailing serves all night. This time was no different. Brock stormed back, the crowd cheering louder with every point.

In the end, Brock scored seven consecutive points to win the set 15-10 and the match 3-2. Some key stats were nine kills by Brown, seven kills by Carroll, 12 digs by Balatbat, and 25 assists by Davenhill.

Brock will take on Lakehead Saturday at the Bob Davis Gymnasium at 7:30pm.
