ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's hockey team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Queen's Gaels Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
Brock opened the scoring 11:40 into the first period as
Cara Sayles (Welland, ON) beat Queen's starting goaltender Claire Warren for her first goal of the season.
Just 58 seconds into the second period, Sayles would record her second goal of the night to put Brock up 2-0.
Queen's cut the lead in half at 10:19 of the second period as Kaylie Dennis and Kyla Crouse setup Nadia Larocca for her second goal of the campaign. With 3:05 left in the second, the Gaels evened the game 2-2 as Larocca added her second goal of the contest. Micaela Smith and Dennis added the assists.
Less than a minute into the final period, Queen's Kyla Crouse found Danelle Bishoff who beat Brock starter
Jensen Murphy (Kingston, ON) for the eventual game winner.
In goal, Murphy registered 34 saves in the loss, while Warren turned aside 31 of 33 shots she faced for the victory.
The Badgers host the UOIT Ridgebacks Saturday 4:15pm at the Seymour-Hannah Centre
