TORONTO - The No. 4 ranked Brock University men's basketball team fell to the No. 1 ranked Ryerson Rams by the score of 104-79 Wednesday night in front a capacity crowd at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
Behind the No. 1 fans in the country in attendance, the Badgers opened with a 5-0 run early in the opening quarter.
Brock trailed by four 22-18 after 10 minutes. In the second quarter, the Ryerson offense went on a 21-4 run  leading 43-22 at the half. In  the second half, the two teams played almost even but the damage was already done. With the loss, Brock falls to 9-3 while Ryerson improves to 11-1.
The Badgers had all five starters in double figures led by
Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, ON) who registered 27 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double.
Matt Marshall (Burlington, ON) added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Johneil Simpson (Toronto, ON),
Ryan Bennett (Toronto, ON) and
Tyler Brown (Hamilton, ON) all chipped in with 11 points each in the loss.
For Ryerson, Aaron Best led the way finishing with a game-high 28 points. Jean-Victor Mukama collected 20 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double.
Brock shot 34.9% (29-for-83) from the field, including just 33.3% (8-for-24) from the arc. The Badgers struggled from the charity stripe going just 13-for-22 (59.1%). Ryerson's offense had the hot hand, shooting 50.0% (41-for-82) from the floor, 43.8% (14-for-32) from three-point land. They knocked down just 8-of-10 (80.0%) from the free throw line.
The Badgers return to action Friday, February 5th at 8pm when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on the road.
