GUELPH, ON - The Brock women's basketball team had their season come to an end Wednesday night as they dropped a 69-51 decision to the Guelph Gryphons in the opening round of the OUA Playoffs.
Kira Cornelissen (Alymer, ON) led the way with 14 points and eight rebounds.Â
Kayla Santilli (Brantford, ON) added 13 points and three assists, while
Kate Harpur (NOTL, ON) ended her five year career with nine points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
Guelph's Bridget Atkinson led all scorers with 19 points, while Dana Van Balkom (16pts) and Kate MacTavish (12 pts, 13 rebounds) rounded out the scoring.
Brock's offense continued to struggle as they shot just 27.3% (18-for-66) from the field, 7.1% (1-for-14) from beyond the arc and 87.5% (14-for-16) from the charity stripe. Laurier went 27-for-66 (40.9%) from the field, 7-for-15 (46.7%) from long range and 8-for-9 (88.9%) from the free throw line.
The Badgers opened the season with a 10-1 record. After dropping three games over the Christmas holidays, they continued to slide going 5-9 the rest of the way, which included dropping five of their last seven contests.
