Brock women’s basketball falls short against No. 5 Queen's 79-72

4698ST. CATHARINES, ON- The Brock University women's basketball team fell short against the No. 5 ranked Queen's Gaels losing by the score of 79-72 Friday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium as part of the Bell Let's Talk night.

The Badgers kept the game close as they trailed 55-51 after the third quarter. However, Queen's would take a lead in the fourth that Brock could not recover from.

Bridget Atkinson (Welland, ON) led the Badgers with 22 points, four rebounds and five assists, followed by Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, ON) who recorded 20 points, two rebounds and three assists. Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, ON) and Alex Symonds (Pelham, ON) both led Brock with ten rebounds each.

Leading the Gaels each with double-doubles were Andrea Priamo with 24 points and ten rebounds and Robyn Pearson with 12 points and 15 rebounds. With the win Queen's improves their record to 11-0 to remain undefeated.

The Badgers shot 43.8% (28-for-64) from the field 26.7% (4-for-15) from beyond the arc and 63.2% (12-for-19) from the charity stripe. Queen's went 34-for-78 (43.6%) from the floor including 0-for-10 (0.0%) from long range and 11-for-16 (68.8%) from the free throw line.

The Badgers play against the York Lions at home Saturday at 6pm as part of the Shoot For The Cure.
