ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 23-25, 25-27) decision to the Windsor Lancers Saturday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Prior to the game, rookie setter
Marcelo Correa (Indaiatuba, Brazil) received the inaugural Jason Pearson Memorial Volleyball Scholarship from Jason's father Mr. Larry Pearson and longtime friends Ryan Dudley and Lucas Hodgson.
Jason Pearson studied Physical Education at Brock while playing on both the varsity men's basketball and volleyball team. In June of 2001, Jason's life was tragically and suddenly taken from him, his family and his friends in a car accident.
The Badgers were led by
Timmy Spisar (Brampton, ON) who registered 10 kills and five digs.
Matthew Ragogna (Tottenham, ON) contributed with eight kills and six digs while Correa finished with 29 assists, 10 digs and five kills for the double-double. LiberoÂ
Felipe Costa (Belam, Brazil) added 10 digs in the loss.
The Lancers were led by Brad Gyemi who recorded 15 kills and eight digs.
For the match, the Badgers collected 36 kills with 15 errors on 104 attempts for a .221 hitting percentage. Windsor hit .259 adding 46 kills with 18 errors on 108 attempts.
The Badgers return to action Sunday afternoon at 4pm when they host the Western Mustangs.
