ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University women's basketball team (4-9 OUA) fell 91-75 to the No. 7 Ryerson Rams on Friday night at the Meridian Centre.
The Badgers were without the OUA leading scorer in
Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, ON), but the hard working Badgers squad gave the defending OUA Champions all they could handle through 25 minutes.
The Badgers led 20-19 after the opening quarter and trailed 43-39 at the half.
Midway through the third quarter, Ryerson put together a 23-5 run, leading by as many as 24 points, early in the fourth quarter, on route to their 11th victory of the season.
The Badgers' offense was led by Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, ON) who registered 24 points, going 9-for-17 from the floor including 3-for-7 from 3-point range. Also chipping in for Brock was Bridget Atkinson (Welland, ON) (17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and Alex Symonds (Pelham, ON)  (15 points).
The Ryerson offense was paced by Sofia Paska, who registered a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Kellie Ring also notched a double-double in the contest with 13 points and 10 assists.
As a team, the Badgers shot 37.5% from the floor (27-72) including a 46.2% (6-13) clip from deep. Ryerson countered by shooting 50.7% from the field including 47.4% (9-19) from 3-point range.
The Badgers' next action comes on Jan. 28th when they travel to Guelph to take on the Gryphons on the road. Game time is 6 pm.
