GUELPH, ON - The Brock University women's basketball team (5-9 OUA) defeated the Guelph Gryphons by the score of 75-63 Saturday night on the road.
The Badgers led 20-11 after the opening quarter and 39-26 at the half, on route to their fifth conference win of the season.
Bridget Atkinson (Welland, ON) had a strong game for the Badgers registering a season-high 27 points going 13-for-26 from the field. She also collected six rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Baelie Campbell (Halifax, NS) contributed with 14 points while Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, ON) added 12 points, highlighted by four three-pointers, to go along with four rebounds, four assists and five steals.
Ivana Vujadinovic and Megan Brenkel led the Gryphons with 19 and 15 points respectively.
For the game, the Badgers shot 42.9% (30-70) from the field, including 50.0% (7-14) from long range and 72.7% (8-11) from the free throw line. The Gryphons went 26-66 (39.4%) from the floor, just 2-13 (15.4%) from beyond the arc and 9-14 (64.3%) from the charity stripe.
The Badgers take on Waterloo Warriors this Wednesday, February 1st in the Bob Davis Gymnasium at 6pm.
