WINDSOR, ON - The Brock University women's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-2 decision (25-27, 25-16, 23-25, 25-12, 10-15) to the Windsor Lancers on the road Sunday afternoon.
"When we were in control we were unstoppable, but we gave Windsor more points then they earned," said head coach Dale Melnick. "We will reset and continue to work hard this week."
Renee Helmer (Waterloo, ON) and
Laura Condotta (Etobicoke, ON) had strong matches for the Badgers both registering double-doubles. Helmer added 18 kills and 18 digs while Condotta contributed with 18 kills and 17 digs.Â
Darby Taylor (Thorold, ON) and
Tori Carroll (Walkerton, ON) chipped in with eight and seven digs respectively. Setter
Hannah Davenhill (New Zealand) finished with 48 assists and 10 digs in the loss.
Windsor was led by Emily McCloskey who registered 13 kills and eight digs while Melissa Smyth chipped in with 10 kills in the victory.
The Badgers recorded a season high 60 kills but also added a season high 30 errors in the match. They finished with a .182 hitting percentage. Windsor added 42 kills with 30 errors on 156 attempts for a season low .077 hitting percentage.
The Badgers are on the road next weekend when they take on the Ryerson Rams and Toronto Varsity Blues in Toronto Feb. 4th & 5th.
