The Brock University men's hockey team dropped a tough 4-3 decision in OT shootout to the York Lions Saturday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
Brock opened the scoring with less than five minutes to play in the opening period as
Jeff Corbett and Even Morden setup
Mack Lemmon for his first goal of the regular season.
York would continue to pepper Brock starter
Clint Windsor in the second period putting 16 more on net for a two period total of 29. With a man-down, the Lions would even the game with at 13:43 with a shorthanded marker by Kyle Campbell. Andrew Doyle added the assist.
With just 14 seconds left in the second, Lemmon and
Mitch Nardi would find
Ryan Purvis who beat York goaltender Alex Fotinos for the 2-1 lead.
Just 38 seconds into the third period, Brock would go up 3-1, as
Sammy Banga beat Fotinos for his first goal of the campaign.
Josh Timpano and Brayden Stortz added the assists.
The Lions cut the Brock lead to one at 2:43 of the the third as Nik Coric and Trevor Petersen setup Derek Sheppard for his first goal of 2017. Just under five minutes later, York tied the game 3-3 as Petersen beat Windsor to send it to overtime. Campbell and Reid Jackman chipped in with the assists.
After a scoreless overtime, York would win the shootout 2-1 for the com from behind road victory.
Brock's Windsor finished with a game-high 49 saves in the loss. York's Fortinos collected 33 saves for the victory.
