The Brock University women's hockey team defeated the No. 9 Western Mustangs by the score of 2-1 in shootout Friday night on the road.

The Mustangs opened the scoring 13:02 into the opening period as Emma Parson set up Megan Taylor for her first goal of the season. 

Just over two minutes later, Annie Berg found Kimberly Brown who beat Western starter Carmen Lasis to even the game 1-1.

The Mustangs outshot Brock 25-21 in the second and third periods, but it was Brock goaltender Jensen Murphy coming up big to keep it tied 1-1 after regulation.

In overtime, Murphy collected five more saves to send it to a shootout.  In shootout, she stopped all three Western shooters, finishing with a game-high 42 saves for the victory. Lasis collected 34 saves in the loss. 

Brock's Maggie Spratt-Mallick scored in shootout for the road win.

The Badgers returns to action Saturday, October 28th when they take on the Windsor Lancers on the road.
