The No. 2 ranked Brock University men's basketball team rolled past the Nipissing Lakers by the score of 90-57 Friday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers opened the contest with one of the best starts in the program's history as they led 17-0 midway through the first quarter, and extended their lead to 36-2 with six minutes left in the second quarter, on route to their 12th straight victory.
Brock had six players in double figures led by
Daniel Cayer who finished with 18 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Kascius Small-Martin contributed with 16 points off the bench, while
Dani Elgadi (12 points, 6 rebounds) and
Cassidy Ryan (12 points, 3 rebounds) both added 12 points. Rounding out the Brock leaders were
Johneil Simpson and Godsman Kwakwah who chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.
With his 12 points tonight, Elgadi moves in to sixth all-time in Brock career scoring (2396) surpassing former great and Brock Hall of Famer Gord Wood (2388).
For the game, Brock shot 43.0% (34-79) from the field, 35.5% (11-for-31) from three-point range and 91.7% (11-12) from the charity stripe. Nipissing went 17-55 (30.9%) from the floor, 3-22 (13.6%) from beyond the arc and 20-for-28 (71.4%) from the free throw line.
The Badgers return to action Saturday night at 8pm when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs.
