The No. 2 ranked Brock University men's basketball team dropped a 78-69 decision to the No. 9 ranked Ottawa GeeGees Friday night in front of a sold out crowd at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Brock held a 41-35 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Brock extended their lead to 10 points, 45-35, with just under eight minutes in the quarter. Ottawa answered back with a 10-0 run to tie the game 45-45 with 5:53 remaining. The GeeGees then put together a 7-1 run to go up 52-46 with two minutes on the clock, and held a 55-52 lead after 30 minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Brock would regain the lead and go up 62-58 with 7:26 left in regulation. Ottawa's offense answered again with a 10-0 run to take a 72-62 lead with 1:36 left in regulation on route to the road victory upset.

Brock was led by Dani Elgadi who finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds for the double double. Daniel Cayer collected 13 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double, while Cassidy Ryan chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds in the loss.

Ottawa had three players in double figures led by Sean Stoqua who recorded 21 points. Calvin Espitola registered 16 points and six rebounds while Kenny Jean-Louis finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

For the game, Brock shot 37.9% (25–66) from the field, a season low 4.8% (1-21) from three point range and 81.8% (18-22) from the charity stripe. The GeeGees shot 36.5% (27–74) from the field, 28.2% (11–39) from beyond the arc and 50.0% (13-26) from the free throw line.

The Badgers next action is Saturday night at 8pm when they take on the No. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens at the Meridian Centre.
