The No. 9 ranked Brock University women's hockey team had their five game win streak come to an end as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Western Mustangs at the Seymour-Hannah Centre Saturday.
In the opening seven minutes of the first period, Western answered with back-to-back goal from Evra Levesque, a power play mark, and Emma Pearson.
The Mustangs took a 3-0 lead midway through the second period, as Rachel Armstrong beat Brock starting goaltender
Jensen Murphy, for their second power play goal of the afternoon.
To open the third period, Brock's
Amanda Ieradi recorded two straight goals three minutes apart to make it a one goal game, 3-2. Assists on those goals went to
Kimberly Brown,
Paige Cohoon and
Christina Ieradi.
Western closed out the game with a goal from Alyssa Chiarello with just under four minutes left in regulation to secure the road victory.
In goal, Murphy suffered the loss allowing three goals on 17 shots.
Julia Pettella played the third period registering seven saves. Western starter Carmen Lasis recorded 22 saves for the victory.Â
