LONDON, ON - The Brock University women's basketball team dropped a 73-64 decision to the Western Mustangs Wednesday night on the road.
The Badgers held a 34-33 at the half.
In the third quarter, Brock trailed 44-43 with 3:47 remaining, before the Mustangs went on a 10-2 run to take a lead 54-45 at the end of 30 minutes.
The Badgers rallied back to bring it within five points, 56-51, with 7:26 left in regulation, but it was Western answering again with a 12-2 run to lead by as many as 15 points, 68-53, on route to the home victory.
Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, ON) finished with 21 points, six rebounds and four steals. Also in double digits were
Alex Symonds (Pelham, ON) and
Baelie Campbell (Halifax, NS) who added 11 points each, along with
Jessica Morris (Guelph, ON) who chipped in with 10.
Bridget Atkinson (Welland, ON) finished with six points, seven assists and four boards in the loss.
Western's Julia Curran and Victoria Heine led the way with 23 and 21 points respectively.
The Badgers shot 45.6% (26-57) from the field, including 50.0% (8-16) from beyond the arc and 100% (4-4) from the charity stripe. Western went 32-58 (55.2%) from the floor, 4-11 (36.4%) from three-point land and 5-9 (55.6%) from the free throw line.
Brock closes out the OUA regular season on the road Saturday against the Windsor Lancers.
