ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Brock University men's hockey team dropped a tough 4-3 decision in overtime to the Guelph Gryphons Friday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
With the loss, Guelph wins the best 2-out-of-3 OUA playoff series 2-0.
The Gryphons opened the scoring 5:28Â into the first period with the goal from Josh McFadden.
Brock tied the game 1-1, just 29 seconds later, as captain
Andrew Radjenovic (Hamilton, ON) beat Guelph starter Scott Stajer for his second goal of the postseason.
Early in the second period, Guelph would go to work on the power play and capitalize as Mackenzie Nichol setup Cody Thompson to make it 2-1 Gryphons.
Radjenovic would tie the game 2-2 with just under three minutes left in the second period with the lone assist from
Chris Maniccia (St. Catharines, ON).
Guelph would regain the one goal lead with 34 seconds left in the second as Marc Stevens added his second goal of the playoffs.
With the season on the line,
Sammy Banga (Windsor, ON) setup Radjenovic who added the natural hat trick with five minutes left in regulation to tie the game 3-3, sending it to overtime.
1:56 into the extra period, Guelph's Robert Lepine and Thompson would setup McFadden for the game winner to advance to the second round of playoffs
In goal, Brock's
Clint Windsor (Burlington, ON) recorded a career high 50 saves in the loss. Guelph's Stajer turned aside 34 saves for the victory.
