The Brock University women's basketball team defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds by the score of 66–55 Saturday night on the road.
Algoma held an early 5-1 lead, before Brock went on a 25–8 run to take a 26-13 lead early in the second quarter. The Badgers held a 41-29 lead at the half, and put together a 13-2 run early in the third quarter on route to the road victory.
The Badgers had three players in double figures, led by
Baelie Campbell who finished with a game-high 24 points going 9-for-18 from the field. Rookie
Miranda Smith finished with a career high 14 points including 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Courtney Mcpherson collected the double double adding 10 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
For the Thunderbirds Kendra Cole and Sydney Resch both added 10 points each in the loss.
For the game, Brock shocked 41.8% (23–55) from the field, 35.7% (5-14) from three-point land and 63.6% (14-22) from the charity stripe. Algoma went 21–65 (32.3%) from the floor, 4-20 (16.0%) from beyond the arc and 9-14 (64.3%) from the free throw line.
