The Brock University women's basketball team dropped a 68-52 decision to the No. 7 ranked Windsor Lancers Saturday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Despite only dressing six players, due to a number of different injuries, the Badgers gave the Lancers all they could handle. Brock came out on a high leading 13-6 after one quarter. In the second quarter, the Lancers put together a 17-6 run to take a 23-19 lead at the half.
Late in the third quarter, the Lancers extended their lead to 43-26 and held a 49-37 lead after 30 minutes.
In the fourth, the Windsor extended the lead to 15 points, 56-41, but it was Brock answering back with an 11-2 run, cutting the lead to six, 58-52 with five minutes left in regulation. The Lancers closed out the contest with a 10-0 run, improving to 12-4 on the season. Brock's record falls to 5-11.
Brock had three players in double digits led by
Baelie Campbell who registered 20 points and five rebounds.
Miranda Smith contributed with 12 points, six steals and three rebounds while
Courtney Mcpherson recorded the double double adding 10 points and 14 boards.
Windsor's Nyamuoch Teny led all scorers with a game high 25 points, including going seven for 7–for-12 from beyond the arc.
For the game, Brock shot 34.7% (17-49) from the field, 25.0% (2-8) from behind the arc and 66.7% (16-24) from the charity stripe. Windsor went 28-79 (35.4%) from the floor, 11–38 (28.9%) from three-point land and 1–5 (20.0%) from the free throw line.
The Badgers returns to action January 24th at 6pm as they host the Guelph Gryphons at the Bob Davis Gymnasium. Brock is also at home January 27th at 6pm when they take on the Waterloo Warriors.
