The Brock University women's basketball team dropped a 73-58 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks Wednesday night on the road.
Brock took an early 6-0 lead before Laurier answered with a 10-0 run to go up 10-6 with under four minutes left in the opening quarter. In the second quarter, the Golden Hawks extended their lead to six points, leading 31-25 at the half.
The Badgers would cut the lead down to one, twice in the third quarter, bu it was Laurier answering each time coming away with their 10th win of the regular season. With the loss, Brock falls to 6-13.
The Badgers had four players reach double digits led by
Courtney Mcpherson who recorded 16 points and 16 rebounds for the double-double.
Miranda Smith contributed with 12 points while
Kristin Gallant and
Brooke Murdoch chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Laurier's Nicole Morrison led all scorers with 18 points including 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.
For the game, the Badgers shot 28.6% (18-63) from the field, 33.3% (7-21) from long range and 65.2% (15-23) from the free throw line. Laurier finished the game 30-75 (40.0) from the floor, 8-23 (34.8%) from three-point land and 5-10 (50.0%) from the charity stripe.
The Badgers are on the road Saturday, February 3rd when they take on the Waterloo Warriors on the road.
