The Brock University men's hockey team had their five-game win streak come to an end as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Guelph Gryphons at the Seymour-Hannah Center Saturday night.
Guelph opened the scoring 44 seconds into the first period as Josh McFadden and Manny Gialedakis set up Mark Stevens for his 11th goal of the season. Less than three minutes later the Badgers tied the game 1-1 as
Connor Brown and
Jeff Corbett set up
Sammy Banga for his seventh goal of the season.
This game was a battle of two of the top goaltenders in the OUA as Guelph's Andrew Masters and Brock's
Clint Windsor both came up with a number of spectacular saves to keep it tied 1-1. With seven minutes left in the second period, Todd Winder would score the eventual game-winner as he trickled one through the pads of Windsor.
In the third period, Brock outshot Guelph 15-6, but it was Masters coming up big with a number of key stops as Guelph picked up their OUA West leading 13th win of the regular season. Brock drops to 9-6-3 overall.Â
Both Windsor and Masters finished with 39 saves each.Â
