Cosimo Fontana scored in the shootout and goalie Logan Thompson stopped all three Guelph Gryphons to backstop the Brock Badgers to a 4-3 road victory on Wednesday.
The No. 10-ranked Badgers improved to 3-0.
"This was our best game. The scoring chances against us was a manageable number," said head coach Marty Williamson. "They got some bounces to tie it up, but we didn't hang our heads. We continued to play well."
The rare 11 a.m. start time was Guelph's 'School Day' game.
Fontana beat goaltender Evan Cormier blocker side for the only goal in the shootout.
The Badgers led 3-1 on goals by Fontana, Frankie Pucci and Adam Berg late in the second period, but Guelph worked their way back in the final frame.
Guelph outshot Brock 43-32. Connor Bramwell, Nick Boyer and Scott Simmonds each scored for the Gryphons.
"Great start to our tough week," said Williamson. "Now time to focus on RMC and Queen's."
Up next, the Badgers (3-0) travel to Kingston to play RMC (2-2) on Friday, Oct. 19 and Queen's on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
