The McMaster Marauders defeated the Brock Badgers 59-5 in the OUA women's rugby championship bronze-medal game at Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton on Friday.
Niamh Haughey scored Brock's lone try immediately after halftime when McMaster led 24-0.
The Badgers' defence was on fire in the first nine minutes of the game.
"We had girls out there that gave everything they had. That was the best defence I've ever seen them play, but that obviously changed as the game went on," said head coach Stefanie Pavlovich. "It's being able to do that for 80 minutes."
The deep playoff run was a culmination of hard work this season. The Badgers posted their second consecutive undefeated regular season and tamed the York Lions in the first round of the playoffs.
In the semifinals, they kept up with Guelph before the Gryphons pulled away.
Over the past few seasons, the Badgers scraped and clawed their way out of the basement of winless campaigns to sporting a dynamic offence and strong, tactical defensive formations.
It was the last game for five Brock seniors: Meagan Hart, Katelyn Heyens, Kaylah Moehling, Cassidy Smith and Torry Bostock.
"All five of them were able to finish the game together. That was pretty cool," said Pavlovich. "I think that meant a lot to them."
Earlier this week, a total of seven Badgers were named to the OUA all-star team, bench boss Stefanie Pavlovich won Coach of the Year and senior fullback Katelyn Heyens was given the Community Service Award.
The OUA honoured Brock's players and coach during the medal ceremony.
