The Brock University women's basketball team fell to the Lakehead Thunderwolves by the score of 67-59 Saturday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Midway through the opening quarter the score was tied 7-7, before Lakehead went on a 22-4 run over the next 10 minutes leading 29-11 midway through the second quarter. Brock would answer back with a 19-3 run of their own to make it a two-point game, 32-30, with 7:30 left in the third quarter. In the final quarter, the Thunderwolves went up by 10, on route to  their 14th win of the regular season. With the loss, Brock falls to 6-16 on the season.
Brock had three players reach double digits led by thr rookie duo of
Miranda Smith and
Kristin Gallant who recorded 14 points each. Smith continued to shoot the ball well from beyond the arc going 4-for-8. Also in double figures was
Courtney Mcpherson who added 11 points in the loss.Â
Lakehead was led by Leashja Grant who registered 21 points and 17 rebounds for the double-double.
Brock shot just 33.3% (21-63) from the field, 27.3% (6-22) from three-point land and 68.8% (11-16) from the charity stripe. The Thunderwolves went 24-64 (37.5%) from the floor, 5-17 (37.5%) from beyond the arc and 14-20 (70.0%) from the free throw line.
After the game, the Badgers honoured their lone senior player in fifth year guard
Brooke Murdoch.
The Badgers close out the OUA regular season on the road next week against Windsor and Western.
