The No. 2 ranked Brock University men's basketball team improved to 21-2 in the OUA West Division as they defeated the Western Mustangs by the score of 92-51 Wednesday night on the road.
The Mustangs opened the game with three-pointer from Marko Kovac before the Badgers answered with a 29-2 run to take a 29-5 lead late in the opening quarter. The Badgers offense continued to roll as they led 50-25 at the half, on route to their 11th road win of the season.Â
he Badgers were led by
Johneil Simpson who led all players with a game-high 27 points, including 11-for-16 from the field and 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.
Dani Elgadi added 13 points and four rebounds while
Kascius Small-Martin and
Cassidy Ryan rounded out the Brock leaders chipping in with nine and eight points respectively.
Leading Western's scoring were Marko Kovac and Omar Shiddo who added 13 and 12 points respectively in the loss.
For the game, the Badgers shot 53.8% (35-65) from the field, 45.8% (11-for-24) three-point land and 91.7% (11-12) from the charity stripe. Western was held to just 18-63 (28.6%) from the floor, 9-25 (36.0%) from long range and 6-10 (60.0%) from the free throw line.
The Badgers close out the OUA regular season on the road Saturday, February 17th against the Windsor Lancers.
