The Brock University women's hockey team had their season come to an end as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the No. 7 ranked Guelph Gryphons in the best-2-out-of-3 Quarter-Final series. Guelph advances to the OUA Semi-Finals.
Brock opened the scoring 5:21 into the first period as
Kailey Peirson and
Brenna Murphy setup
Annie Berg who put it past Guelph starter Valerie Lamenta for the 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, the Gryphons Miranda Lantz would add a power play marker to tie the game 1-1. With just over five minutes remaining in the first period, the Badgers would regain the one goal lead as
Amanda Ieradi found
Rachel Rochat for her first goal of the postseason.
With just 21 seconds remaining in the second period, Guelph evened the game 2-2, as Kelly Gribbons added a power play goal beating Brock starter
Jensen Murphy.
Five minutes into the third period, the Gryphons Karli Shell made a nice move on Murphy which would prove to be the game winning goal.
Murphy registered 29 saves in the loss while Lamenta collected 20 saves in the victory.
